Ashtavakra Gita Chapter 8
Verse 8.1
Bondage is when the mind desires something, grieves, abandons something, grasps something, rejoices over something, or becomes angry.
Verse 8.2
Liberation is when the mind neither desires nor grieves, neither abandons nor grasps, and neither rejoices nor becomes angry.
Verse 8.3
Bondage is when the mind is attached to any viewpoint or object; liberation is when the mind is unattached to all viewpoints or objects.
Verse 8.4
When there is no sense of “I,” there is liberation; when there is the sense of “I,” there is bondage. Knowing this, do not anxiously cling to or renounce anything.
